On a Mac you can use command+E to merge a selected layer down to the next layer. Or you can use the pull down menu called ';Layers';, and go all the way near the bottom to ';flatten image';.
I'd suggest saving an unflattened version, in case you want to more easily change something in the background, or in the top drawing, later on (save it as a PSD file), then saving your flattened version as a TIFF or PDF. 600 dpi or larger with the greatest height and width in inches that you'd like it to print out at. 600 dpi or larger for black and white line drawings. 300 dpi is fine for grayscale with shading, or colors...though you can't go wrong with 600 dpi if you have the processor power and harddrive space for saving the files that large. How do you put pictures in photoshop using layers?
There are a couple of ways to merge those layers together. Go up to the Layer menu and click it %26lt; Merge Visible (if there are only those two layers in your document) or Layer %26lt; Merge Down. I hope this helps!
