Can anyone tell me how to describe short layers to the hair dresser?

can anyone tell me how to describe short layers without cutting to much and short layers with not alot of height on top but just right .. and if you get short layers can you still keep the length and wats the difference between long layers and short layers?Can anyone tell me how to describe short layers to the hair dresser?
Long Layer are closer to your longest length of hair and short hairs are the shortest length of your hair.

And yeah you can keep your length. All you say is I would like long and short layers all around and you say if you want a lot of layer or a little. And remember to say DO NO TAKE OFF ANY LENGTH OF MY HAIR.Can anyone tell me how to describe short layers to the hair dresser?
Take in a picture of what you want your short layers to look like. That's what i do. And if you want to keep your length tell the hairdresser that.
Short layers- there are more layers than in long but they are smaller layers.


Long layers- there are less layers than in short layers because they are longer
