How early can you make a layered cake?

I'm making a 4 layered cake for a shower on saturday, and its thursday. I was going to make it tomorrow but now have so much stuff to do! Would the cake be ok if i made it today, but put the butter cream icing on tomorrow?How early can you make a layered cake?
It's perfectly fine to make the cake a few days in advance. You will simply need to wrap up the cake and store it in the fridge since you'll be frosting it tomorrow.How early can you make a layered cake?
You can make the cake today It will be fine just make sure that you cover it well and keep in in the fridge making sure that you don't have onions or fish in the fridge otherwise the cake will absorb the smell of them. I keep my cakes under a dome or in a box that you can purchase from the bakery or Michael's.
Up to a couple weeks ahead heres how.


Spray and line the pan with parchment paper. Bake as usual, When done put hot cake still in the pan directly in the freezer. Do not let cool or remove from the pan. Because the moisture will lock into the cake as it freezes. Then early the day of or day before take the frozen cakes from pans they will lift right out. Ice them while they are frozen so the moisture will be locked in as it thaw underneath the icing. Give it time to thaw leat 1/2 day.





If you make them today put them in the freezer right away.
Perfect plan. I agree, make the cake today, frost tomorrow. Bakeries do that all the time. That way, in the event, something were to happen you have time on your side to make any adjustments. Have fun.
